What is Prompt Lab?
Prompt Lab checks the same buyer questions against your original page, your optimised page, and your live hosted page when you have one. You see what is answered well, what is weak, and what to improve next.
Prompt Lab shows whether your page clearly answers the kinds of questions people ask — so you can fix weak spots before you rely on search or AI to find you.
In simple words
Same questions, different page versions
We pick a short list of questions a buyer might ask (for example “best tools for…” or “who should use this”). Then we check how well each version of your page answers them: the live original, the Inseo optimised draft, and the published hosted page if it is online.
Not a ranking tracker
Prompt Lab does not tell you your Google position. It tells you if the page content is clear enough for those questions — so you know what to edit or regenerate.
What the scores mean
Answered
The page has a clear answer in a sensible place (for example a heading, FAQ, or short summary block) — not only the same words scattered somewhere on the page.
Partial
There is some relevant text, but a reader (or an AI) would still struggle to get a clean answer.
Missing
The page does not really answer that question yet. Those rows are your best place to improve.
Where the questions come from
Built from your page info
We use what we know about your brand, category, product or service, and location (from the page and from facts you confirm).
Suggested questions (paid plans)
On Pro and Enterprise we can refresh a few extra buyer-style questions each week. These are labelled Suggested — helpful ideas, not a live “trending” feed from Google.
Optional: Google Search Console
If you connect Search Console (read-only), we can prefer real searches people already use on your main site. That makes Prompt Lab closer to true demand. Connecting is optional — see Why connect Google Search Console?.
What you should do with the results
Fix the gaps first
Open the weak or missing questions. Add clearer copy, an FAQ, or short answer blocks on the page — or update page facts and regenerate.
Compare before and after
The point of Prompt Lab is the side-by-side view: did the optimised (or live) page answer more questions than the original?
Enterprise: live AI checks
On Enterprise, after a page is published on your subdomain, you can optionally ask major AI tools the same questions and see if your brand or domain shows up in the answers. That is a separate step from the Fit scores.
FAQ
Do I need Prompt Lab to publish?
No. You can generate and publish without it. Prompt Lab helps you see what is still unclear.
Does a high score mean I will rank or get cited?
No. It means the page answers those questions more clearly. Ranking and AI citation also depend on crawl access, competition, and time.
Why is Free limited?
Free checks a smaller set of questions so you can try the idea. Higher plans unlock more questions, suggested refresh, hosted compare, and (Enterprise) live AI checks.
Must I connect Search Console?
No. Without it, Prompt Lab still works with template and suggested questions. Connect only if you want real Google queries mixed in.
